All about ArtsySip Wine & Paint Event
Welcome to the world of “paint ‘n’ sip”, the growing trend of drinking while painting. We usually start our session by saying; “We provide art ENTERTAINMENT, not art education. We make FUN art, not fine art.”
The event is a recreational activity and form of relaxation rather than an art class. Hence, we don’t like to use the term “class”. If you like, we rather you call it a party. 🙂 Participants won’t become fine artists by end of the session, but they will become tipsy, relaxed, self accomplished and go home with a self-created painting. It focuses on entertainment and experience rather than product. Our session combines being creative and having a couple of drinks with your friends or to meet new people. Each session also offers adults a bit of “me time” to be creative, have fun and de-stress.
People wants to do something fun and different on their weekend. Some people need an escape. This is what ArtsySip provide – an excuse to laugh and forget about your day job (be it a full-time mother or corporate position). Most of our customers come from corporate. Many come in and say they can’t paint. And we say ‘perfect’. All you have to do is follow along and be amazed at what you can create in about two and a half hours. We provide everything – just show up! Challenge yourself – we are about the process and not just the end product. On occasion participant do paint whatever they want instead follow the theme. In fact we are happy when customer do that. They just go with their own creative flow.
When you paint for about two hours, you’re not thinking about anything else. The wine often becomes an afterthought as the painters become more focused in what they’re painting. People arrive here and get more involved than they think they’re going to. Sometimes people are surprised to discover personal things about themselves when they paint. In fact, painting can even be a form of therapy for some people.
If the painting doesn’t look as good as someone else’s, it’s okay. We’re just there to have fun. Beside, “Art is not always about pretty things. It’s about who we are, what happened to us and how our lives are affected” – quote Elizabeth Broun. All we ask is that you maintain an open mind and a willingness to try something new! Painting is all about individuality.

What is ARTSY.SIP ?
It’s Penang’s first paint and sip studio! Then what is paint and sip? Simple answer : Art & Alcohol. Brushes & Bubbly. Cork & Canvas. Drink & Draw. Whatever alliterative name as answer, our event pairs wines with paints and a blank canvas. The pairing of drinking and painting has been popularize overseas and now you can try this fun social event in Georgetown Penang! After the event, you go home with a piece of painting and a pleasant buzz. Interested?
3 tips when you attend ARTSY.SIP event :
1. DO come with an open mind.
Most of our sessions have some sort of theme. The wine is ancillary for these events. After few drinks helps participants loosen up and gets them stop worrying about how they cannot paint. Most times, participants get so into painting that they forget to drink! We always remind them . Most of our customers are beginners that want to try out painting or do something different and creative. It’s more of a social environment where people can come meet people, spend time with friends over a couple of drinks and have fun together. Most come with no art experience but they have a lot of fun and that’s the WHOLE point.
2. DO NOT be negative.
Our sessions offer flexibility. If someone does not want to paint a flower, they can paint whatever they want. We have one customer painted a Tiger beer instead of the Andy Warhol Campbell’s soup theme. Whatever the situation, we will be supportive. Even if you want to try do some abstract art by splashing paint on your canvas, the canvas is yours! Or like the above Steve Madden’s cartoon says you can paint “Investigation into the meaning of nothing“. Just kidding. See.. we are funny people. Sometimes a guy or girl on a date night whom may not be into painting, but is there because she wants him to be there or vice versa; do accompany your partner and let him or her have a good time. You can always paint a Manchester United logo if you’re not comfortable painting a Monet garden. And drink more! After all it is paint AND sip event! Who knows, you might end up having more fun than she does.
3. DO NOT worry about the quality of your final work.
In all our previous sessions, participants usually exchanged giggles about their creations. Occasionally we heard loud laughter or even screams. No one took it too seriously. Yet when their paintings were completed, it was obvious they felt a sense of accomplishment. Besides, many are surprised by how good their art turned out to be. People who think they can’t paint, rethink. People are amazed at what they do, especially while they are having a good time.
Ready to have some fun this weekend?
